HAPI is a proud partner of the Housing as a Platform for Academic Success (HPAS) learning cohort, a group of NeighborWorks America non-profit organizations. HPAS aspires to have all students attending our after-school programs reading at grade level, an early indicator of lifetime success. HAPI provides support in affordable housing communities for students K-12.
The HPAS learning cohort’s goal is to build a culture of academic success in affordable rental communities and surrounding neighborhoods by:
- Using promising or best practices in closing the reading & math gap for school-age students
- Creating a peer-to-peer sharing practice
- Creating, sustaining, and strengthening alliances with schools, health, and national educational organizations
- Using shared metrics to measure reading and math changes
- Building outcomes in reading proficiency by grade level through the use of standard language arts software and technology
- Creating safe, constructive out-of-school environments that are sustainable, impactful, and scalable
- Providing opportunities to caregivers and students living in subsided affordable rental communities to strengthen the chances of the students’ academic and earning success
